Weekly piano lessons and performance opportunities under Ms. Lauren Vaccaro are guided by the curriculum within The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certificate Program, a comprehensive system of music study and assessment from Elementary to Advanced levels. For over 135 years, RCM has been an internationally leading institution — and for some countries, the gold standard — in music education and performance. Students who participate tend to:

  • RCM’s integrated curriculum includes repertoire and etudes from the Baroque era to modern day, as well as music theory, ear training, technique development, and sight-reading.

  • Examinations are available for both Practical (performance) and Theory (written).

    • Practical examinations evaluate the performance of repertoire, etudes or vocalises, aural skills, sight reading or singing, and orchestral excerpts for string, brass, and wind instruments.

    • Theory examinations evaluate the understanding of theory basics such as musical notation. Advanced levels include harmony, counterpoint, analysis, and history.
